WHERE I WAS: MEXICO CITY
The Roma Norte neighbourhood has exploded into a design and culinary hotspot—old-world facades rubbing shoulders with cutting-edge cafes, shops and galleries.
As soon as our feet touched the cobblestone streets, the air hummed like an old world Parisian arrondissement merged with Brooklyn-edge of indie creativity. Streets and patios burst not just with an international crowd but bougainvillea draping over walls in magenta and oversized feathery palm fronds edging entrances and windows everywhere.
We were only there four days and never stopped exploring yet only felt like we scratched the surface. It was heady and almost overwhelming. By day three we had already booked a return trip to coincide with their renowned Zona Maco Art fair. Until then here is all we saw and tasted and bought.

Where I Stayed
As first timers I was so glad we took a friend’s advice and stayed at Brick Hotel. It blends restored early-20th-century architecture with sleek interiors, mirroring our neighborhood’s old-meets-new energy.
It’s ideally situated in the heart of our beloved Roma Norte hood: we loved strolling down leafy Calle Orizaba to some of the most vibrant dining and cultural spots in the city.

Our room was two floors (the bathtub on top!) with expansive glass windows shaded by green: it felt like we were in a modern treehouse…
