WHAT I BOUGHT: MILAN

Milan has next level shopping: each place beckons with a stylishly edited air, always efficient but without stuffiness. I’m not a compulsive in person shopper, but my daily strolls past dozens and dozens of boutiques while cross crossing the city proved as challenging as trying not to eat the chocolate cookie dough batter en route to making cookies.

Cabana

The store’s intimate interiors was designed by co-founders Martina Mondadori and Christoph Radl.

From artisan-made tableware to exotic textiles, every wonderful thing in this boutique embraces Cabana’s unique narrative.

Then if you can believe it, we got to film at Casa Cabana itself, Martina's iconic childhood home, decorated by the celebrated Renzo Mongiardino and the muse for it all.

I was so sad to leave this world!

Martina then so graciously let us film in her own gorgeous and deeply personal apartment and served us the most wonderful lunch…

La Double J

Meeting La Double J’s founder JJ Martin is like opening up a delicious bottle of champagne. She exudes positivity, litheness and a generosity of spirit that both gives and receives in multitudes:

After browsing and filming in her store:

I slinked into one of the amazing Double JJ creations which instantly made you feel powerful and cozy:

Then we jumped into JJ’s delish red Fiat Cinquecento:

...and zoomed across town to capture JJ in her marvelous apartment with its joyful closet bursting with La Double J creations that stuns and deserves its own close up:

Every room here reflect JJ’s many layers of purposeful and creative living:

WHERE I WAS: MILAN

I always thought if I had my druthers, there would be no more wonderful city to live in, than in Rome. (Except maybe Tokyo, but too far away.)

Just off the chic bustle of Corso Venezia, this 43 room boutique hotel sports modern, sparse decor that still feels nourishing:

WHAT I ATE: MILAN

Efficient, alluring, traditional and innovative, Milan’s food scene pairs as perfectly with the city’s character as a Lugana wine does with a risotto alla Milanese:
